Profesor behram gazi dari universitas Noshirvani di kota babol Iran mengklaim telah menciptakan kapasitor microphone dengan ukuran hanya 0,5 mm x 0,5 mm, yg mana akan menjadikannya mikrophone terkecil di dunia, sebelumnya rekor ini di pegang perusahaan Denmark, sinion, yg menciptakan mikrophone berukuran 2.6 mm x 1.6 mm.
penemuan ini bisa di gunakan utk berbagai kepentingan medis seperti mendengarkan suara yg lebih jelas dari penderita penyakit jantung utk mendiagnosa penyakitnya atau memeriksa suara bayi dalam kandungan.dll
Dr. gazi beberapa kali mempublikasikan makalah2 penelitiannya mengenai penciptaan kapasitor mikrophone kecil melalui proses MEMS, dia juga memegang hak paten untuk chip MEMS tunggal ber-sensitivitas tinggi dengan menggunakan mebran ber-slot (berpetak-petak)

Bahram Azizollah Ganji of Noshirvani University in the northern city of Babol, who built the 0.5 mm X 0.5 mm microphone, said he would apply for the world record.
The device could be used for medical purposes to receive the exact sound of the heart for diagnosis of heart problems and examination of foetus' health.
It can also be used for fishing and surveillance systems under water to measure sound waves and ultrasound waves that would help identify marine animals, he said.
The tiny microphone can be used for telecommunication systems, information collection devices and defence systems.
The microphone that cannot be seen with the naked eye has a high sensitivity and low cost. Low power consumption is another advantage of the device.
